Define gothic definition the word Goth have lots of meanings from Germanic tribes in the Middle Ages, fashion, architecture and more. However the most common attribute to the gothic definition is the Goth subculture.
To define gothic to the average person is not a simple task because there are many stereotypes regarding to this culture. The members are usually considered and depressive, eccentric, antisocial and generally scary. This is not the mainstream; it is the fringe of society, a place where lots of people find their true identity and the opportunity to express them selves without being judged. The gothic lifestyle is about being mysterious and dark. This doesn’t mean that they are bad people who want to hurt you.
It all started in England at the 80s as a rock genre who was continuously to the Punk. As you know, music is not such a thing that stands by itself, it define a whole new world and a lifestyle. The gothic definition started from rock music but it evolved to fashion, clubs, art and etc. when it spread to lots of subjects in our life we can definitely say that it became a culture thing.
Horror and death are a big part of this phenomenon but not in the devastating way. It is the ability to find aesthetic and beauty even in things that we consider very frightful. This is the point where lots of people don’t understand what is so fascinating about it. It is very true that you have to be a Goth to understand them. However in recent years this culture has come more and more close to the mainstream and even emerge another subculture that called EMO.
The gothic definition has a long history, in fact there where true gothic people in the middle ages – one of the Germanic tribes who help to destroy Rome. Then we have the renascence and the gothic architecture that is widely found in ancient castles. The special history and even nostalgic events help to member of this group to maintain this culture for long time!
